Ship Impact Analysis

LICengineering has performed ship impact analysis for container ships in Great Belt.

The ship impact analysis which LICnegineering has performed is based on a scenarios where large container ships sail on one of the Great Belt Bridge ancher blocks. The analysis is based on the seabed properties corresponding to the material which originally was used for construction of the bridge.

The ship impact analysis was carried out using the program SOFTGROUND, PC Computer Program for Analyzing Ship Groundings on Sandy Ocean Beds.  SOFTGROUND is based on time simulation of the impact. The impact forces are calculated on background of a detailed integration over the passive earth pressure, frictional stresses and the pore water pressure above the contact surface of the ship’s bow with the sand.
