LICengineering has performed a study of the response of the western bridge at The Great Belt Bridge due to ice loads.
The study of the response of the western bridge due to ice loads was performed by nonlinear dynamic frame element pragram DYNON developed by LICengieering.
In the sudy, a section of the bridge was modelled including load case from Canadian model tests and scaled in accordance with Froude’s law. A number of tests were performed to investigate the model sensitivity to parameters as friction in bearings, number of loaded piers and damping in buffers.
